I totally understand the feeling. I find it complicated myself. I personally use "Father, Heavenly Father, even Lord". Sometimes I even talk to Jesus! Isn't it odd, after all we were told, that here we are finding that "name" bringing up bad connotations of God!

I don't like using Jehovahs' name anymore
by LouBelle ini must say the more and more i learn and find my way around my spirituallity the less i use the name jehovah.
it just reminds me of everything i went through, reminds me of the ""bad"" and not the good of god.
it reminds me of hypocracy and mind control.

Mistaking another child for your own while shopping!
by kitten whiskers inwe were out shopping tonight, buying a new bunk bed for our son.
while we were there, we had the kids trying out the beds, they were laying on them and we were moving between two beds to compare, and i thought our daughter was still laying on the first one.
i saw a child her size, same hair length and similar color, and just "assumed" it was her because she had just been lying there.

Zeroday- OMG! That is exactly what happened to me, except I thought it was my grandpa in the grocery store!
Abandoned- I LOVE Calvin and Hobbes, but I don't remember that one. I'll have to keep my eye out for it the books!
R.Crusoe-Augh! Driving! Don't terrify me!
momscrazy- how about some tranquilizers for the kids instead? How in the world you take on six at once makes you superwoman in my book. My two are enough! I have problems adding one more to the mix! -

This store also sells other items, and the child had a timer that started buzzing in her hands. I was walking past, thinking it was my girl, and I reached into the bottom bunk and grabbed the timer in her hands to shut it off, saying as I did so, "Child...what are you doing?" And SURPRISE, the face of someone else's little angel was looking at me! OMG! I just about died! I told her how sorry I was and laughed about it while my husband and daughter, looked at me like I was a crazy woman! She was such a cute kid, it didn't even phase her. Our daughter on the other hand was upset at me for mistaking someone else for her! I admit it has happened twice this week! Earlier I was pickling her up at school and saw a girl with a coat and backpack identical to hers, and the same length and style haircut. She was twirling around and around, so I couldn't see her face. Then my daughter waves at me. She is not in her coat and I was totally surprised! I thought I was already looking at her. Needless to say she's pretty mad at me for that.
I remember as a small child mistaking others for my grandfather or mother in the store.I was knee high at the time, so pants color is about all I had to go on until I craned my neck up to look at the face. But this is totally surprising to me! I just had to share. I thought it was funny. -

My recent 7 paragraph letter to my parents, and their short reply. . .
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit inwe haven't talked in 2 years, but i only email them smart little morsels about the gb etc that i get from you guys, you know, since i'm already not a fit associate why not try to educate them?!?!?!
it's not necessary to read my whole letter to get to the point--his weak but kindly short response (that i waited for 4 days to get) where he spends most of his sentences explaining himself, and i hung on his every word, and i wrote back about what we've been doing, and 2 weeks have gone by and he's not responded to that.
.and i check my email 10 times a day to see if he wrote back and nothing and i wonder.

I am sorry. I feel your pain and my heart aches for you. Congratulations on the new little one! You will spend so much time cuddling that sweet bundle and wondering how on earth parents could do that to you! I remember just holding my girl and crying for all the mean things I endured growing up, that was before my mother shunned me for a few months. Those ties you feel to your baby will be so strong, and their life will be so much better for having you as a mom! You know how much pain a parent can bring and you know how to really love. Your letter shows that. You are a very forgiving and sweet person who only wants peace. That is wonderful. You are starting your own family now, and you will find much happiness and success I am sure! Sometimes I think that my husband and children and I are like the pilgrims or pioneers of the old west. We have moved away from family, and are starting our own traditions, beliefs and new roots. It helps me sympathize somewhat with others did so long ago in leaving their families and starting fresh. They didn't leave on the same terms we do, but the separation is nearly the same. I wish you peace and happiness and have enjoyed reading your posts here. I really like your forum name! I think that is so clever! You might want to keep a copy of these letters to show your children later. I have kept the letters and a little journal to share with my children as they get older in case they ever ask about why we left the organization, and how we were treated. I hope will serve as a barrier to anything the family might ever try to tell them or "persuade" them to believe. I know it will show them how unloving and wrong the jw's are and help them. I also kept the Watchtower and Awake from when they were born. You know the beliefs will change and I want to be able to show them how it is a manmade organization full of false prophecy. Thats also why I have a few of the books still in the garage and the Watchtower CD! If they really want to know, I and my hubby will be the ones to show them the error and folly of this religion. I hope this helps a little. I just wanted you to know you are not alone out there! Much love, Kitten Whiskers

Kids First? "I Believe that Children are the Future"....
by SixofNine in....and that kids should come first.
ok, who knows what michael jackson really believes about children, but generally speaking "worldly" people (sorry for the jw speak, but you know what i mean) indeed believe that "children are the future" and that "kids come first".
often, "worldly" parents act accordingly, and their children thrive because of the life choices (often real sacrifices) the parents make.

I think you have a valid point too. I will say however, that with the generation change, I think more of the young parents are concerned with their children's education. At least we were. We wanted our kids to have it better than we did and get to go to college. We didn't want them to face the hardships we faced for the lack of a good education. But there are always the fanatics.
As I grew up, the direction from the Society was to dedicate all our resources to the ministry and kingdom and forego having children in this system. I could never buy that. I always wanted children. Thank God I followed my heart! I made sure I found someone who wanted them too! I was not up for living at Bethel or any such sacrifice of my natural desires. I feel for those who put off their hearts longing for children and are now in a position where it is no longer possible. The Society has robbed many of their most treasured wish.

My Story, Chaper 5 - "They're making this sh*& up!"
by B_Deserter inshortly after i received my associates degree, i quit pioneering.

Isn't it amazing how that happens! I think I was in the same book when I started pulling it apart too. I remember all the anti-type stuff they would say in the bookstudy and I thought the same thing you did. This is cr@p! It's just a bunch of made up ideas. Well, I guess being faithful and making it to bookstudy paid off for both of us!
Oh... and don't forget this foreshadowed that and so on and so on. I can't believe they have the guts to study the Revelation book and add four pages of changes to it! I hope more people have true "revelations" as they go over this recycled rubbish! Hopefully their reasoning will kick in and they too can climb out. You sound like a nice person and very honest. I feel bad for you and your situation. We're from Michigan too, and when you said you moved up to Traverse City my first thought was "what in the world did you find as work up there? Cherry picking? " The Michigan economy forced us out and I hear they are leaving by the droves! Here's to you for sticking it out and working on your fade! You are still nice and young and made it out 8 years faster than my hubby and me! Congratulations and best wishes! Life is great out here in the normal world. We were lied to about so many, many things growing up as JW's. I hope you find much happiness and joy in your life! PM me if you like. It's nice to see someone break out in the prime of their life!

Thanks all of you! Right now he is waiting for the phone call for the interview. It should be any minute now. It is the highest pay increase of all the offers so far. But...the other offers are local and just about an hour and a half away in Alabama. So, I guess we'll see how bad they want him and go from there. At least it's not Russia. There was an opportunity for that, but I love having warm winters after growing up in Michigan!!! And I also like to speak English!
